How to open Firewall

In Case you're behind a router, you will need to open your ports for the DVR system. Log into your router, and find the firewall section .Generally you are looking for something along the lines of port forwarding, IP pinholes, virtual server. Generally you would want to contact the manufacturer of the router's tech support, and they can walk you through opening the ports.

You will need to open port 2000 for the PC based systems, and port 8000 for the Standalone DVR's. If you are presented with the options of TCP or UDP, select both, or create a rule set for each protocol.

If you have an IT department, you should contact them, as they will know where to configure this setting. Your IT department may also have additional security settings in addition to a firewall so again it is a good idea to contact them.
